Competitive Mode is an official game mode released for Team Fortress 2. The mode is accessible only by having a Premium TF2 account, a valid phone number linked to their Steam account and must be at least level 3 in Casual Mode. Store to gain access. Players must complete 10 placement matches in order to gain a rank, and can level the rank up as they win more matches. Players are ranked using a model based on the Glicko rating system used in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
The competitive beta mode was available to premium players when a stress test event was active if they met the requirements above. In order to participate, users needed to be in the official group and have the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator enabled, as well as have a Competitive Matchmaking Beta Pass. When a stress test was active, a "Play Competitive" button would appear on the main menu with a Stress Test badge when the test began.

Gameplay-wise, Heavy got nerfed to oblivion, so did Pyro but nobody gives a shit about the latter because fuck Pyros. Generally the game is oddly balanced after many years so everyone is really confused about what OP shit to burn at stake, so balance discussions are kinda hilarious atm. How bad are the nerfs for these two? Pyro actually got somewhat balanced than nerfed. It also takes more ammo to use its airblast. On the other hand Pyro now gets [B]20 health for every time he extinguishes a teammate. Also, the Crusader's crossbow was updated to have new sound effects upon healing teammates.
